I finally get to play the game that you keep showing in your tutorials. YAAAY! I am a huge fan of both GameMaker and Tower Defense. So, I obviously love this game XD
A downloadable game
Do you harbor an intense hatred of all things creepy crawly? Every time you see a centipede, do you feel the urge to bring Armageddon upon it? Does the sight of anything with more than four legs make you wish we could just delete the entire Universe and start over from scratch?
Yeah, me too. Well, you can't actually do those things in this game, but what you can do is play through twelve different tower defense levels, doing everything you can to keep the bugs from carrying out their nefarious goals!
This is a tower defense game. Build towers at strategic positions along the track, upgrade them go make them stronger, and fight through waves of creepy crawlies on their way to infest your campsite!
The game should run on just about anything, but just to be safe:
- CPU: anything that's not ancient
- Graphics: Integrated graphics should be fine
- RAM: 100 MB
- Storage: 100 MB
- Requires a 64-bit operating system
- Should be the same as above
The game is generally playable at 30 frames per second on a Raspberry Pi 4. As a general rule I recommend having a cooling system in place when gaming on a Pi.
- CPU: Raspberry Pi 4
- Graphics: Raspberry Pi 4
- RAM: 100 MB
- Storage: 100 MB
- Currently only supports the 32-bit version of the Raspberry Pi OS
I posted this game's development on YouTube, covering about a half hour of work every week for a year and a half. Check it out!
The source code can be found in this Github repository. If you run the game through GameMaker, you can access the level editor and some other tools that I used to help make it!
Yes, this is a 3D game in GameMaker. No, I'm not interested in Unity, thank you for your question.
- It's not out of the question that I'll decide to add more content (more maps, towers, upgrades, etc) to the game later, but it's not a priority right now.
- The game currently sports a system for multiple languages, but currently the only one is English because I am monolingual and all of my polyglottal contacts are tied down at the moment.
If find any bugs in the game (lol), please use the Github issue tracker. I think I've fixed all the major ones, and there are a few minor visual hiccups that I'm aware of, but if anything goes wrong definitely let me know.

This is really cool, it runs very smoothly.
(This was my very first tower defense so I don't know how it usually are in these types of game.) I wish my saved up money would carryover to the next level. I would save up hoping to crush it in the level, but it starts at $75.
Great project, And you for all your video, I've learned a great deal from them.
Thanks, glad you had fun with it all! I do eventually want to add a few more things eventually such as some kind of persistent bonuses between levels, not sure how soon I’ll get on that though.
